In this house, we’re prepping for the pumpkin patch tomorrow! 🎃 With all the changes and activities we’re navigating lately (and integrating a whole new human into the kids' lives-me!), my partner and I are taking extra steps to ensure we keep any behaviors at bay so we can enjoy some time together as a family.
One trick up my sleeve? I printed out some fun fall coloring sheets from Teachers Pay Teachers link. The kids can color on the car ride or during their free time to stay entertained. We've decided to say goodbye to electronics in the car because those backseat arguments just aren’t worth it—at least not to the adults!
I also created a social story using PowerPoint with images I grabbed from quick Google searches. If you haven’t tried social stories before, they’re a great way to prep kids for new activities by walking them through what to expect in a simple, visual format. You can easily make one by mapping out the steps of your day and adding visuals to help them understand what’s coming up.
Fingers crossed we survive the heat and have a fantastic day full of pumpkin fun! We’ve got big plans, from painting pumpkins to watching Hocus Pocus after—only kind ghosts allowed. 👻💛
